In the 1950s and 1960s, there was a lack of goods in Hong Kong. People lived in hardships, to become hawkers for making money which created the culture of street-side snacks at the same time that also became a part of Hong Kong’s gourmet heaven. The Government was compulsory abolish the hawker license in 1993 for causing serious nuisance and environmental hygiene reasons. Also, the hawker license will not be issued again in 2009. Many traditional local snacks thus disappear.

Hong Kong has a given name called the Gourmet Heaven. Food types are all-encompassing. The traditional local snacks are our important culture and memories in Hong Kong. As the rents continue to rise, many hawkers who are not able to rent a shop for selling traditional snacks that caused them disappear gradually. Not only preserve our culture, but also promoting it to tourist. Now we have the promotion of Charm-dition Local Snacks under HKTB for making more people know more, including local people.

As the Government has stopped issuing licenses to hawkers and the shops are rented too high. Now, we are making the Food Trucks for the new promotion way which go around in different areas in Hong Kong. Introducing and promoting the origin and history of traditional local snacks to local people and tourist that hoping to leave them the memories of Hong Kong snacks.

This promotion is provided financial support by the Government which Subsidized shop repackaged, became a Hong Kong tourism promotion project. Now we have the Promotional offers to attract people and tourists with Food Trucks.
